CONTROVERSIAL plans to build a school at Lake Farm are being finalised, with an application due to be made soon.
Hillingdon Council announced in July 2011 their intention to build a brand new three-form entry school on a portion of Lake Farm Country Park, at the corner of Botwell Lane and Botwell Common Road, as part of its drive to provide school places for a growing population.
The proposals have outraged local people who want to retain the park, which is Green Belt land, and more than 100 people attended a demonstration and march in February.
The footprint area for the school is a popular habitat for birds, and last month birdwatchers descended on the park to catch a glimpse of a Red-backed Shrike, which is extremely rare on these shores.
The council has confirmed that the planning application is being tweaked, and is due to be lodged in the coming weeks.
